Re: LA/Ontario Airport Management by local entities

Dear President Rothenberg,

As you know, ARSAC has advocated for a network of airports in Southern California so that we are utilizing the region’s airports to their potential. As the regional capacity needs increase beyond the capacity of LAX the other existing airports must be able to accomplish servicing the increased demand.

The aggregate of the former litigants who signed the 2006 Stipulated Settlement are preparing a joint letter addressing “local control” of LA/Ontario airport. The purpose of this letter is to affirm what we have stated at a previous Board of Airport Commission meeting.

We recognize that LA/Ontario Airport has lost significant patronage in the past few years and, like LAWA, seek to resolve this decline. We see the transfer of LA/Ontario airport management decisions to an entity responsible to the local area as a way to accomplish this end.
